Trust ... the magic ingredient to true lasting love and hidden within the little black book. If omissions are betrayals and you're a paranoid girlfriend wondering about your boyfriend's past ... this romantic comedy is perfect for you. When associate producer Stacey uses her professional research skills to investigate past lovers she gets more than she bargained for. Between listening to Carly Simon songs and bringing up the past, she learns that no matter how many times he says "I love you" it isn't enough to soothe her fears. Stacey meets and interviews three previous girlfriends to discover she hardly knows her partner and that he is still better off with his ex. The big surprise happens on her talk show when she goes from producer to surprise guest all on live TV. This is not a typical ending but still a good one. Watching it will make you think twice about waiting a year to find out your lover's true feelings and his past that may still be in his present and future.

The movie is fairly predictable but the Carly Simon musis is great.

Little Black Book is about a woman, Stacy (played by Murphy), who gets ahold of her boyfriend Derek's (played by Livingston) palm pilot. Stacy happens to work for a talk show, and her co-worker, Barb (played by Hunter), decides it would be fun to call in each of Derek's ex-girlfriends under the guise of getting them on the show so they can hear what they all have to say about Derek.
There are probably many women who have been tempted to peek at their boyfriend's palm pilot, so this situation is something most women can relate to. Only this invasion of privacy takes Stacy into a whole new world, where she finds out that things are just not what they seem.
Little Black Book is not your typical romantic comedy, but I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. It's so much more than the story of finding out about a lover's secrets (there are many movies that do that). It's about finding one's own truth and inner strength.
The movie also contains fabulous music by Carly Simon (who has a guest appearance in the movie).
I give a definate 5 stars for everyones' performance. Brittney Murphy was adorable, Ron Livingston, (who also played the insecure boyfriend to Carrie in HBOs Sex in the City) was absolutely darling, Holly Hunter was great and Kathy Bates rocked.
Even the dog was great!

Ok another great movie!
Stacy Holt has been in and out of bad relationships, constantly. So has her mother, and they always turned to Carly Simon. But now, Stacy thinks she has found her true calling. The One. Derek. Stacy works on a daytime talk show, which now the topic is Little Black Books, which she then starts to wonder, what about her beloved Derek? She has gotten a hold of his Palm Pilot, and now that she has the password, she breaks into it and finds that Derek has 3 former girlfriends! One is a gynocoligist, and to spy on her she had to book herself an appointment! And a model Lulu. Well, Stacy figures out that Derek still talks to LULU! Well, she gets Lulu an interview, pretending she is going to be on the show, also with the doctor. And now, she has gotten herself into trouble with the help of Barb, her co worker. Who at the end, tells all the lies Stacy hid from Derek. And then Stacy gets furious at Barb, and we see the sad picture of Stacy sitting in the yellow beetle bug with rain pouring down, crying that we saw in the beginning. Then life turns out to get better, 3 months or so later, she goes to her favorite coffee place, where her old high school crush is the owner. She tells him everything, but it turns out his wife is pregnant, so she ends up with nobody, but the producer of a TV show.
This movie is fantastic!

Ever had a rapidly beating heart? Sweaty palms? Can not speak in complete sentences anymore? All the sensations one feels when around their first love? We've all been there done that! Well then consider if you will how Brittany's charter Stacey Holt, feels when she finds her boyfriend's palm pilot.
We all have secrets. Most of us would keep a diary. Some people have keys to their diaries, others don't. What if we could open them? What would we find? We could find steamy secrets, intimate notes of someone's inner most soul. Pandora's Box would be opened. All hell would break loose. Could you get over what you find inside?
Now imagine you work on a day time talk show in the vain of Jerry Springer and Ricki Lake. Anything can and usually does happen on television. Esspecially LIVE TV. Need I say anymore? I don't think so, just sit down and watch events unfold.
The song Tainted Love written by Ed Cobb and performed by Soft Cell is perfect for this movie. The Carly Simon tunes are really wonderful as well. Best of all is Brittany Murphy, who gets to sing "Nobody Does It Better" and there really is no other young woman on the planet who can do the song better then Brittany Murphy. She can sing! No surprises for me there. Someone get this girl a record deal pronto!
I found SO much meaning in Brittany Murphy's film `Little Black Book'. There are so many special lines that I can really relate to in my life right now. I'm so glad I have it in my collection, and so thankful to Brittany and the amazing cast for making this film. It is very special and now on film it will last forever.
Films are so important. They examine our lives. They can help us become better people and help give us answers to questions in life we don't know, or forgot. Worth more then one viewing.
